The idea of the site 'readasummary.com' began when the site's author started new media courses at the Centennial College, Toronto. It kept on developing according to a lot of other courses taken at different colleges. The site was launched on 25 September 2003 in Toronto, Canada.
The site is for children ages 11 and up, and adults to read summaries that help in the book selection process.
To inform children and care givers about published fiction books through summaries that ,intentionally, lack some important points to make kids curious to read.
Stories are strong media that can enhance children's moral, emotional and intellectual capabilities. Through summaries, the site intends to inform children and their care givers about the recommended fiction books. Children will be kept ,eventually, busy, entertained and educated.
To achieve this objective, the site developer will continuously research children's fiction: print as well as non-print markets to provide children with recommended valuable storybooks.
To further educate and entertain children, themes from the listed books are added. Also, there is innocent entertainment with innocent jokes from real life.
The site encourages children's parents and care givers to read the summaries, get the actual storybooks, and suggest them to their kids and teens according to their reading levels.
After reading the summaries, hurry up to get the actual fiction book from your library or favourite bookstore!
Most of the summaries are of award-winning/new published fiction books for children, school grade six and up, which is equal to ages 11 and up
The selected storybooks are of different types: Fiction, mystery, science fiction and folklore.
